Convenient, central location for learning why Bose sucks

First Adopter collects and compiles resources detailing why the speaker company that spends 70% of its annual budget on marketing just might not have the best products at any price point.

The good news nowadays is that there's good alternatives like Orb Audio and B & W who deliver great looks and great sound at a lower cost than Bose.

I've been consistently disappointed by the way that audio and video products are marketed to consumers. They depend on ignorance and laziness to sell people poorly performing products at inflated prices. In a day and age where a $35 T-Amp and a pair of $150 speakers can measurably outperform a $1200 Bose system people get dazzled by the tiny speakers and controlled demos that Bose runs and pay out the nose.

I definitely think a sizeable market niche exists for high quality audio components that are elegantly designed. Whether they can compete with the 800 lb juggernauts at retail is a tough one though.
